Colored Child Dies From Log Truck Injuries

Avery Lewis, between one and two years of age, and son of L. T. and Lena B.
Lewis, colored, died from injuries received late last Monday when his father
accidentally backed his log truck over the child.

The accident happened at the Lewis home, several miles from Winnfield on the
Calvin road, when the child, not known to the father, walked behind the truck.
Lewis was backing the truck out of the driveway, and ran over the child.

The child was rushed to the Winnfield hospital, but died enroute.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon.
