Last Rites Are Held For Elisha Lewis, Age 82

Funeral services for Elisha Lewis, age 82, who died at his home at Bentley,
July 15, were held the following day at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery.  The
Rev. Jim Garrett, assisted by the Rev. J. A. Jones, conducted the rites.

Mr. Lewis was the father of Mrs. J. F. Lovell and Mrs. I. O. Hammons of
Winnfield and the brother of Rev. J. H. Lewis of Curry.  He made his home in
Winn Parish for a number of years and in recent years has made frequent visits
to his daughters here.

Surviving are two sons, J. H. Lewis and B. A. Lewis of Bentley, seven
daughters, Mrs. N. L. Pruitt, Bentley; Mrs. Janie Hart, Monroe; Mrs. Mattie
White, Pioneer; Mrs. Angelique Quimby, of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Edith Wheat,
Jonesboro; 34 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
