Hargis Native Is Buried Apr. 5 In Union Hill

Miss Martha Lewis, 75, of Epps, a former Hargis resident, died April 4, at
12:00 a.m. in a nursing home at Lake Providence following a lengthy illness. 
She was born Aug. 15, 1888 and was a member of the Baptist Church.  She was
preceded in death by eight days by a younger sister, Mrs. Millie Pace of Epps,
who died suddenly from a heart attack.

Funeral services were held at Union Hill Baptist Church near Atlanta at 2:00
p.m. April 5 with the Rev. J. A. Allen, Union Hill pastor, assisted by the
Rev. Basile Halbut, Epps pastor, and the Rev. Don Shehorn, Hargis pastor,
officiating.

Pallbearers were nephews:  J. D. Williams, Leroy Lewis, Bill Wilson, R. W.
Lewis, Jake Lewis, and Jim Lewis of Epps, and many nieces and nephews.
