All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 26, 1937 Winn Parish Enterprise Fall From Truck Proves Fatal To Milton Long Accident Occurred Last Friday Afternoon in Winnfield A fall from a truck on which he was riding last Friday afternoon as he was returning from work, proved fatal to Milton Long, 24, who died from his injuries Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred as the truck turned a corner in front of the Double Dek establishment on Court Street, and a barrel upon which Long was sitting fell, throwing Long to the pavement. The truck was being driven by Arthur Grice of Route Two, Winnfield, with whom Long resided. Long was employed by the Winnfield Stave Mill in hauling sweet gum blocks. The injured man received first aid at a local clinic and was then carried to the home of Grice where he succumbed Saturday. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Long and P. Barnett and L. Warren of Louin arrived here after his death. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers. Denson Long of Louin and Laverne Long of Laurel; three sisters, Mrs. Olavee Barnett of Ellisville, Mrs. Carmille Dupree and Miss Cassie Long of Louin. The deceases was a great nephew of C. F. Long of Curry and Will Long of Georgetown. A large number of relatives and friends for the Pleasant Hill Community attended the funeral.
