All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 23, 1974 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Carrie Maude Lohman Succumbs Mrs. Carrie Maude Lohman, a native of Winnfield and a resident of 739 Dudley Drive, Shreveport, died January 23, 1974 in the Winnfield General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late R. D. Beville, Sr., and Mrs. Maude Allen Beville, early residents of Winn Parish. Mrs. Lohman, world traveler, was an accomplished musician and linguist. She had lived in Shreveport for the past several years and was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. She was also a member of the English Speaking Union, the Mucic Forum, Greater Music Teachers Assocation, National Association of Music Teachers, and the Louisiana Music Education Association. In Shreveport, besides teaching piano, she taught French at the Woman's Department Club, at Saint Mark's Day School, and the Agnew Day School. While residing at the family home in Winnfield, Mrs. Lohman taught French and piano classes and public school music in the Winnfield Westside Elementary School. She also taught piano one semester at Northwestern State University and while studying music in New York City, she taught piano classes in White Plains, New York. Mrs. Lohman was at one time music director for the U. S. O. Camp Shows overseas, at which time she made numerous trips to the war zones. Some of the many schools she attended were Middlebury Languages School in Vermont, Manhattan School of Music in New York, the Sorbonne and Fountainbleau in Paris, France. Survivors include one sister, Miss May Beville of Natchitoches; three brothers, Jarred S. Beville, Kilgore, Texas, Joe P. Beville and R. D. Beville, both of Winnfield; and four nieces and nephews. The family requests that any memorial donations be sent to your favorite charity.
