Long, 77, Succumbed After A Long Illness Joe E. Long, 77, a second cousin of Gov. Earl Long, died at his home in the Jordan Hill Community at 3 a.m. Monday, after a long illness. Born in Ouachita Parish, Mr. Long had lived in Winn Parish since childhood and had been a blacksmith, repairman, and farmer until illness forced his retirement. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Corinth Church with Rev. L. G. Mabry officiating. Burial was in the Corinth Cemetery. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alice Long, Route 2, Winnfield; four sons, Lee Long, Earl Long, and Reginald Long of Winnfield, and E. I. Long of Henderson, Texas; two brothers, Mike Long of Price, Texas, and Henry K. Long of Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. Roxie Dawson of Winnfield and nine grandchildren.
