Long, Sr., 68, Retired Winn Farmer Succumbs Floyd H. Long, Sr., 68, prominent retired Winn Parish farmer, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, following a heart attack at his home. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday by Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor, and interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were W. E. Traylor, Lloyd Key, Arnett Garriss, J. T. Porter, J. W. Long, W. C. Turner, Bowman Wright, and G. P. Long. Honorary pallbearers included Gov. Earl K. Long, Sen. Russell Long, Cong. A. Leonard Allen, Cecil Earle, Wade Long, J. E. Carter, and L. F. Morrison. Mr. Long is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Frank G. Fletcher, Jr., of Alexandria; two sons, Col. Floyd Long, Jr., Petersburg, Virginia, and Gillis Long of Washington, D. C.; a sister, Mrs. Maude Machen of Winnfield; two brothers, L. C. Long and R. R. Long of Winnfield; his stepmother, Mrs. T. J. Long of Winnfield; two half-sisters, Mrs. A. L. Carter of Winnfield and Mrs. A. A. Bowen of Kilgore, Texas; and three grandchildren. Mr. Long was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. He was born April 27, 1883 and was married in 1912 and operated the American Caf‚ here from 1920 to 1931. That he was held in esteem by his many acquaintances was indicated by a wealth of beautiful floral offerings and messages of sympathy, including a telegram from his cousin, Governor Long, expressing regret that he was unable to attend the funeral Tuesday.
