Long (from the January 24, 1902 Southern Sentinel) (Grandmother of Railroad Commissioner, Governor, and U. S. Senator Huey P. Long, Jr., Lt. Governor and Governor Earl K. Long, and Winn Parish District Attorney Julius Long) After a lingering illness lasting nearly two months, Mrs. J. M. Long, familiarly known as "Grandma," died Tuesday evening at 4 o'clock. She was about 73 years of age and had reared a large family, most of whom survive her. She was a native of Mississippi and a consistent member of the Baptist Church. She leaves a large family of children, all grown and have families, a husband and many friends and relatives who mourn her demise, notwithstanding the fact that she had lived to a ripe old age and the end was soon to come. Interment took place yesterday at Corinth Cemetery, the family burial grounds, amidst many relatives and friends, Rev. J. H. Crosby conducting the services. To her relatives and mourning friends The Sentinel tenders its heartfelt sympathy and laments the death of a most kind and estimable lady. May she rest in peace.
