Long, who died at 6 a.m. Saturday, August 24, in Winnfield General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born October 6, 1891 in Lincoln Parish, the deceased was the widow of the late John Norris Long, and was the daughter of the late Mary Wyrick Chandler and Robert C. Wright, who moved to Winn Parish when she was a child and where she spent the remainder of her life. Mrs. Long became a Christian early in life and was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where she remained faithful______________________. The body lay in state at Hixson's Chapel ___________ before being placed in the ____________________ services were held. Rev. Charles Christie, Hamburg, Ark., was in charge of services, assisted by the church pastor, Rev. Franklin Pierce. Music and son was rendered by Mr. Eddie Smithey, Shreveport. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Active pallbearers were nephews: Jimmy Boyd, Shreveport; Huey P. Long, _____, Mongy Jordan, Mark Wright, John T. Porter, and Dr. Wayne Pray, all of Winnfield. Honorary pallbearers were chosen to represent entire families of the pioneer people of the Winn Parish community where the late Mr. and Mrs. Long had lived and reared their families and had shared all their worship, joys, and sorrows of life. She is survived by two sons, John Norris Long, Salinas, Calif., John Long, Winnfield, Route 2; two daughters, Mrs. W. L. Sasser, Lubbock, Texas, and Mrs. Tuley Wells, Winnfield, Route 2; three brothers, W. C. Wright, Winnfield, Route 2, Harvey Boyd and Jesse Boyd, Ruston; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
