Long, 67, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 1969 in a hospital here after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Minden and a resident of Winnfield for many years. She was the widow of the late Jim Long and a retired revenue deputy for the state. Survivors include a son, Elton Long of Fork, Md.; a daughter, Mrs. Jimmy D. Broussard of Levelland, Texas; a brother, Rufus W. Kelly of Minden; three sisters, Mrs. Ila Rockhold of Jonesboro, Mrs. Jimmy Whatley of Jena, Mrs. Mildred Holliday of Houston, and three grandchildren. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Cox officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Virgil Tharpe, Marvin Harrell, Woodrow Gough, Dalton Martin, Laurie Mercer, and Jack Henderson.
