Old Brother of J. Hardy Long Killed In Accident Enroute Here When Collision Occurs Sunday Near Ringgold Roger Hoyt Long, age 14, was fatally injured Sunday morning about ten o'clock when the car in which he was riding with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Q. Long of Atlanta, Texas, collided with another car said to have been driven by Leland Myers four miles from Ringgold. Mr. and Mrs. Long and their son were enroute here to visit Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Long, another son and daughter in law. Mr. and Mrs. J. Hardy Long upon receiving information of the fatal accident left at once for Ringgold. The car driven by Myers drove in the main highway from a side road, and according to testimony received by Blanchard Moore, Ringgold town marshal and Bienville Parish deputy sheriff, Myers' automobile struck the front wheel of the Long automobile causing it to overturn three times. The body of the youth was found a short distance from the scene of the collision, causing officials to believe that he had been thrown from the car. He was killed instantly. Officials Investigate The parents of the youth, as well as Myers, were uninjured. The lifeless body of the boy was taken to a nearby home where officials were called to investigate the crash. No charges had been filed against Myers late Sunday. He was released on his own recognizance. He was driving slowly at the time and officials expressed belief the accident was unavoidable. The body was prepared Sunday for removal to Atlanta where funeral services were held.
