All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 6, 1967 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Car Accident Fatal To 9 Year Old Rodger Long Severe head injuries incurred in a two-car accident in Monroe on June 25 resulted in the death of nine year old Phillip Rodgers Long in a Monroe hospital Saturday, July 1. His father and 11 year old brother also received lesser head injuries in the accident. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. "Bootsie" Long, their two sons and two daughters were enroute from their home in Memphis, Tenn., to visit relatives in Winn Parish when the accident occurred. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 2, in the Tullos Church with the Rev. George H. Sherman officiating. A second service was conducted in Memphis Monday with members of the Pee Wee baseball team of Memphis acting as pallbearers. Burial was in Memphis under direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Winnfield. Besides the parents, surviving are one brother, Tommy Dean Long; two sisters, Sharon Ann and Brenda Long, Memphis, Tenn.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Long, Sikes, and Mrs. Ruby Sheppard of Tullos; and a host of aunts and uncles in the Winnfield and Tullos area.
