Funeral Conducted For Mrs. Lowery, Pioneer Resident

Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Lowery, 96, pioneer resident of Winn Parish,
who died at her home in Oil City at 1:07 a.m. Saturday, were held at 11 a.m.
Monday in the Oil City Baptist Church.  The services were conducted by the
Rev. Roy Collum, pastor of the Oil City Baptist Church.  Burial was in Vivian
Cemetery.  Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Lowery, born in Winn Parish on November 13, 1849, was a lifelong resident
of Winnfield where she was a member of the Baptist Church and active in
community affairs.  She moved to Oil City about five years ago.  Her husband
was the late J. S. Lowery, pioneer resident of Winnfield.

She is survived by one son, J. H. Lowery of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. W.
W. Sanders of Oil City and Mrs. R. B. Bevill of Mooringsport; 18 grandchildren
and 13 great grandchildren.
