Tillman Brown, Rev. Lula Wardlow, and Rev. George Ross officiating. Burial was in Double Church Cemetery near Couley under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Graveside Masonic rites were conducted. Luther, a retired school bus driver, died at 4:15 a.m. Monday, May 23, 1966, in veterans hospital, after a long illness. He was a native of the Couley community, a member of the Couley Methodist Church, a Mason, and a veteran of World War I. Survivors are three sons, A. G. Luther of Bridge City, Tex., Lt. Charles Luther of Orlando, Fla., and James Luther of New Iberia; five daughters, Mrs. Woodrow Shepard of Joyce, Mrs. James Boyett, Mrs. Melba Camp, and Mrs. Patsy Ledford, of Shreveport, and Mrs. Dave Herrin of Los Altos, Calif.; two brothers, John Luther and Richard Lee Luther, of Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs. Monroe Shelton of Winnfield and Mrs. Hardy Martin of Calvin; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
