It has just come to the notice of the Sentinel, that one of the pioneer citizens of Winn Parish recently died on November 10, 1908, at his home near Couley. L. A. Lucas was born in Mississippi, October 13, 1836, and was in his 73rd year of age. He came to this State when quite a young man and has resided here ever since. Like all old citizens he spent a useful life and was known for good deeds and a generous heart. He died from the effects of a congestive chill. A loving wife and three children are left to mourn the death of an affectionate husband and loving father.
