All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Annie Catherine Lynn is Laid to Rest Here Sunday Dies At Alexandria Hospital Saturday Following Operation Funeral services for Annie Catherine Lynn, age 5, who died at the Baptist Hospital at Alexandria, Saturday, March 24, were conducted here March 25 at 3:30 o'clock at the Methodist Church. Rev. D. C. Brown of Shreveport conducted the service, assisted by Rev. Ellis Smith, Methodist minister, Dr. B. C. Land, Baptist minister, and Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister, all of Winnfield. The little girl was the daughter of Mrs. J. W. Wright of Winnfield and Mr. J. R. Lynn of Alexandria, and the granddaughter of Mrs. and Mrs. J. E. Ray. Pallbearers were J. J. Crippen, W. E. Barnhill, Bobel Lynn, and Trent James. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. The death of this little girl occasioned widespread grief in the community here, where the little girl was a general favorite. She was taken ill about ten days ago and when it was found that her condition necessitated an operation she was rushed to Alexandria, where she was operated on for mastoids last Tuesday, death following on Saturday. While Annie Catherine was not yet of school age she was a member of the school rhythm band conducted by Miss Mae Bevill. She was a regular attendant of the Methodist Sunday school and was a child widely known and widely loved. Surviving are the mother, Mrs. John W. Wright of Winnfield; father, J. R. Lynn, Alexandria; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Ray, Winnfield; Mrs. Lucy Lynn, Alexandria. Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Alton Blakewood and children, Minden; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Norwood, Mrs. Bill Norwood, Bunkie; Mrs. J. E. Oliver, Mr. and Mrs. Carol Pearson, Mrs. Mattie Gray and daughter, Mrs. M. H. Wolf and daughter, Myrtle, and sons, Dalph and George Lorance; Miss Carrie Wolf, Mrs. LeRosen, Mrs. and Mrs. Flim Jordan, Mr. Trent James, Mrs. Guy Priest and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Webb, Mr. and Mrs. Don Swafford, Mrs. Addie Creel, Mrs. Shroder, Mr. Price, Mrs. J. E. Young, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Hickman, Mrs. Maggie Hoff, all of Alexandria.
