S. Hwy. 84, 3.2 miles east of Winnfield, at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday, according to State Trooper A. W. Warren. All were Negroes. Warren said a 1965 Ford driven by Irma Hunter Morgan, 37, 100 Robertson St., left the highway as it traveled west on U. S. 84. The car went off the road to the left, hit a highway sign, went through a fence, jumped a creek and crashed into a pine tree, Warren said. Killed in the crash were the driver and a passenger, Joe D. Bush, 28, 903 Robinson St., the trooper said. Taken to Winnfield General Hospital and then transferred to out-of-town hospitals with severe injuries were McKinley Fox, 36, 900 Thompson St., and Barbara Laverna Crockett, 26, 709 McArthur St. Fox is the owner of the car, the trooper reported. Warren said the vehicle traveled 325 feet after leaving the road. He said the operator apparently lost control of the car, adding that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed. The bodies were taken to Ben Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services for Irma Morgan are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Oliver Baptist Church with burial in Jena. Arrangements on services for Joe Bush are incomplete. The deaths are the first and second traffic fatalities of the year for Winn Parish.
