All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 2, 1973 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Hasson Morris Dies; Service Is Thursday Hasson Morris, one of the founders of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Winnfield, died at 4:15 a.m., May 2, in a hospital here following a long illness. He was 87. Morris and eight other men in 1934 founded what was to become one of the state's major financial institutions. He grew up in Gansville where the family had a farm, a general mercantile business, and he later was in the drug store business. Most of his time since the founding of the loan firm in 1934 was occupied wiht that business which he served as a director and with extensive land and rental building properties. The other living members of the founders of First Federal are Cas D. Moss, Ovey Trahan, and Joe Mitchell. The other founders were Lee J. Grigsby, E. J. Byrnes, J. R. Lanier, J. G. Russell, Sr., and W. T. Norman. Morris retired about four years ago as a director of the firm and was at that time made a director emeritus. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday with a time to be announced by Southern Funeral Home. The services will be in the First Presbyterian Church with its pastor, Rev. W. R. Gage officiating. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.
