H. Melton, 80, Dies After Long Illness Funeral services for Luther Henry Melton, 80, of Winnfield were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield with the Rev. W. R. Gage officiating, assisted by Rev. Charles Haley. Burial was in Winnfield Cemetery. Mr. Melton died Tuesday, June 19, 1973 at the Veterans Hospital in Alexandria after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of World War I and a native of Winn Parish. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Tennie Melton of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. Syble M. Bagur of Shreveport; three sons, Ernest H. Melton of Winnfield, James A. Melton of Malvern, Ark., and A. Leonard Melton of Columbia; one brother, John Melton of Minden; two sisters, Mrs. P. C. Finlay of Winnfield and Mrs. I. E. Long of Henderson, Tex.; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers. They were Russell Melton, Jim Melton, Al Bagur, Roy Eoff, Rusty Melton, and Glyn Stroud.
