F. Machen of Calvin was claimed by death Thursday, January 2, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Machen following an illness of only a few days. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon by Rev. A. H. Cullen after which the little body was interred in the Cypress Creek cemetery. Besides the parents, a sister, Lorice, age 9, survived the deceased. NOTE: This was the obit notice as listed in the Winnfield News American on Jan 10, 1930. The parents were Pierce Franklin and Jeannette (Hodge) MACHEN. The sister, Loreese Machen, who married first Melvin Cockerham, and then my father, Kenneth C. Carpenter, is my mother.
