Wallace, Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge, Wednesday, July 3, were held at the Hixson Funeral Home, Winnfield, Friday afternoon, with burial in the family plot, Winnfield Cemetery. The Rev. Alwin Stokes and Rev. Fred Flurry officiated. A World War I veteran, Mr. Machen was the eldest son of the late Judge M. F. Machen and Mrs. Anna R. Machen, residents of Winnfield for many years, Judge Machen having been elected as district judge for three terms. Frank Machen received his education at La. Tech and L. S. U., and served as secretary for Judge Rufus E. Foster of the Supreme Court in New Orleans. He was endowed with a great gift, he was an artist, and leaves many beautiful paintings in the homes of his friends. At the time of his death he was employed in the law office of George M. Wallace, Baton Rouge. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Eva Hart, Monroe; Mrs. Zoe Newsom, Bossier City, Mrs. Ruth Crump, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Henry Machen, New Orleans, and Tom Machen, U. S. Army, Germany; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Among the out of town relatives and friends attending Mr. Machen's funeral were Mrs. Eva Hart and daughter, Mrs. Huckaby, Mr. Huckaby and daughter, of Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Machen and Henry, Jr., and daughter and two children of New Orleans; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Newsom, Bossier City; Mrs. Ruth Crump, Oklahoma City; and Mrs. Albert of New Orleans.
