Former Winn Parish Man Dies In Texas

Last Rites Were Held For "Uncle" Jim Machen Tuesday

News was received this week of the death of James "Uncle Jim" Machen, who died
Monday, June 28th, at his home near Dallas, Texas, after a year of failing
health.

Funeral services were held at Langston, Texas, Tuesday.  Mr. Machen was a
native of Ward Eight, Winn Parish, and at one time resided in Winnfield.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Rudd Machen, three sons, Presley, Eddie,
and Perry; and two daughters, all of Dallas; one brother, Ebb of Milford,
Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. Missouri Cockerham of Ft. Worth, and Mrs. John
Rudd of Calvin, and numerous relatives in Calvin and Winnfield.
