James Richard Madden, Sr., 81, of Winnfield, retired carpenter, died at 1:25 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 1968 at a Winnfield hospital. He was a native of Scott County, Miss., and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnfield. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hixson Bros. Funeral Home chapel with Rev. W. R. Gage officiating, and burial following in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie C. Madden of Winnfield; two sons, D. Q. Madden and J. R. Madden, Jr., both of Lake Providence; a daughter, Mrs. Marvin Carraway of Winnfield and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Alton Martin, A. E. Garris, C. J. Erskins, Earl Applewhite, Howard Tarver, and Harper Terrell.
