All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: October 2, 1969 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Carson Martin Of Friendship Killed In Wreck An area man was killed instantly and two other persons were injured in a truck-auto head-on collision shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday. Carson Martin, 60, of the Friendship Community near here, was killed instantly and his wife, a passenger in the car, and Van R. Weeks, Dodson, driver of the truck, were injured when the two vehicles collided about two miles west of her on Highway 4. The Martin vehicle was moving east and the truck moving west on the highway. Mrs. Martin was taken to Hodge Clinic, where her condition is listed as satisfactory. Weeks was taken to Jackson Parish Hospital and transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, where he underwent emergency surgery Saturday night. His condition is undetermined at this time. Mr. Martin was foreman of roads and bridges for Continental Can Co. Paper Mill in the Woodlands department at Hodge. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at Antioch Assembly of God Church in Winn Parish with the Revs. Douglas Fussell, Charlie Johns, and Howard Holloway officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Cecil Martin, Friendship; two sons, Bennie Martin, Jonesboro, and Bobby Martin, Friendship; one daughter, Mrs. Billie Robinson, Friendship; five grandchildren.
