Zion James Daniel Martin, 52, 215 Faith Drive, died Tuesday near his home. According to the coroner, death was attributed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Time of death was set in the early morning hours, however he was found about 2 p.m. in the woods near the home, by an unidentified boy. A World War II veteran, Martin moved to Winnfield from Montgomery two months ago. He is survived by his wife, Geneva; five sons, James, Larry, Clint, Thomas, and Bert; two daughters, Nelda and Ouida Martin, all of Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Gongre of Montgomery, Mrs. Clevie V. Illeman of Robeline, and Mrs. Edith Lasyone of Montgomery; and his mother, Mrs. Rose Bamburg of Winnfield. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 29, in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Wheeling.
