DIED

On the 28th day of October, 1908, at the residence of his son, C.M.C. Martin,
at Calvin, La., Mr. John Martin, a veteran of Company K, 28th La. Reg. Of
Infantry, died aged 77 years.

Mr. Martin was born in Clarks Co., Ala., on Dec. 31st, 1831; moved to
Louisiana in 1849; married Miss Huie in Union parish, October, 1853, and moved
to Winn parish in 1858, where he has been living ever since, except during his
services in the Confederate army. A good man and useful citizen has gone. We
extend our sincere condolence to the relatives of the deceased.
