C. Martin Are Held Saturday Heart Attack Fatal To Prominent Crossett Business Man Funeral services for Cornelius C. Martin, 35, who died suddenly in Crossett, Ark., Thursday night of last week, were concluded here Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock followed by interment in the Winnfield Cemetery. Mr. Martin, a former local resident, was suddenly stricken with a heart attack Thursday evening while crossing the street in Crossett after attending a basketball game. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Crossett Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. H. A. Lee, pastor. The body was brought to Winnfield Friday night to the home of Mrs. Martin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Steen, where it was held until the concluding services Saturday afternoon. The deceased had been a resident of Crossett for more than ten years, and was assistant manager of the Crossett Mercantile Store. He was serving on the Crossett municipal council and was president of the chamber of commerce. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity. Surviving are his wife, the former Lillian Steen, one daughter, Jerri Lynn; his mother, Mrs. Fannie Martin, two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Cockfield and Mrs. Al Tracy, and one brother, Andrew of Winnfield, and another brothers, Loyce H. Martin of Amite. Out of town friends attending the funeral here included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cockhousen, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wallick, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Custer Ross, of Crossett, and Mrs. and Mrs. W. E. Howell of Baton Rouge.
