Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 11, at the Mooringsport Baptist Church with the Rev. J. E. Moore, Mooringsport, and the Rev. Z. T. Young, Newellton, officiating. Burial was in the Mooringsport Cemetery. Mr. Mathis was a native of Winn Parish. He had been an employee of Gulf Oil and Refining Company for 32 years prior to his retirement three years ago. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Kate Bevill Mathis; a son, Charles H. Mathis, Baton Rouge; three daughters, Mrs. L. G. Rolather, Wewoka, Okla.; and Mrs. R. C. Smith and Miss Annabelle Mathis, both of Mooringsport; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Attending the funeral from Winnfield were Mrs. Phillip Butts and Guy Bevill.
