Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Eliza Jane Maxwell, 82, who died Monday, December 14, and interment was made in the Zion Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. C. R. McCartney, of Beulah, preached the services and the Upshaw Funeral Home of Jena was in charge of the burial. Pallbearers were Mrs. Maxwell's grandsons, Ralph Horn, Jena; Johnny and Glenster Maxwell, of Tullos; Henry Capps of Winnfield; Lavelle Long of ____; and James Wheat, of Winnfield. Mrs. Maxwell, the wife of William Henry Maxwell, who preceded her in death 21 years ago, has made her home in the Zion Community practically all her life. She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church at the time of her death. She is survived by five children, Mrs. Lizzie Capps and Mrs. Myra Wheat, of Winnfield; Mrs. ?. C. Long, of Zion; I. J. Maxwell, Oak Grove; Johnnie Maxwell of Tullos; four sisters, Mrs. Katie Wilson, Mrs. W. P. Pendarvis, of Tullos, Star Route; Mrs. Nancy Curry of Rochelle; Mrs. Zoodie Church, of Crowville; one brother, D. W. Stringer, of Gaars Mill; and twenty three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
