W. Maxey, 53, Calvin Native, Dies January 19 James W. Maxey, 53, agricultural teacher at Calvin High School for the past 28 years died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 1966 in a local hospital. A native of Calvin, Mr. Maxey was a member of the Calvin Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Calvin Baptist Church with Rev. Melvin York, Rev. Ed Smith, and Rev. T. E. Williams officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Masonic graveside services. Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield was in charge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Vivian Maxey of Calvin; one son, Jimmy Maxey, of Winnfield; one daughter, Diane Maxey, of Calvin; one brother, J. B. Maxey of Columbia, S. C.; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Mayo of Monroe and Mrs. Jesse Shelton, Calvin; his mother, Mrs. J. F. Maxey, Calvin, and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were G. H. Walker, W. S. Carter, Lelve Franks, Leon Carpenter, R. L. Terry, H. R. Lowe, Elvie Moore, and Frank Easley.
