John H. Maxey, 83, Dies; Rites Held Saturday

John Huston Maxey, 83, of the Jordan Hill Community near here died Friday,
September 24, 1971 at his residence.  A native of Georgetown, he was a retired
farmer and a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Bill Maxey of Alexandria; five daughers,
Mrs. Leon Moore, Mrs. E. J. Iverstine, and Mrs. Louie Murphy, all of
Winnfield, Mrs. F. Musgrove of Forest Hill and Mrs. T. N. Duck of Alexandria;
15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Southern Funeral Home
chapel with Rev. Willie Broadway and Rev. Red Russell officiating.  Burial was
in Jordan Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased.
