J. P. Mayes, 69, Buried Tuesday At Beech Creek

J. P. Mayes, 69, died Sunday morning, November 12, in the Veterans Hospital in
Alexandria after an illness of about six months.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Beech Creek Baptist Church
with the Rev. Willie Broadway officiating and the Rev. E. B. Barton and Rev.
Doris Dearman assiting.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his widow, Annie Lee Mayes, Olla; two sons, James T. Mayes,
Olla, and Drew Mayes, Columbia; two daughters, Mrs. Josie Byrd, Shreveport,
and Mrs. Mary A. Mihalha, Santa Anna, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
