D. Tarver, in Winnfield, for the past nine years, died at her daughter's home Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Mayes was the last of triplet daughters of Francis and Henrietta Bell, descendants of pioneer stock who settled the section around Lutesville, Missouri. The other triplets, Mrs. Martha Indiana Atwood, of Selma, and Mrs. Stella Alabama Bowie, of Tioga, died in 1942. They were born in Luteville, Missouri, October 23, 1873, increasing the number of children in their family of twelve. The three sisters were so alike in appearance that their near relatives and intimate friends sometimes were unable to identify them correctly. At the age of nine they moved to Louisiana with their parents. Mrs. Mayes was the mother of four children. Mrs. Bowie, the mother of twelve children, and Mrs. Atwood the mother of ten children. They were all members of the Baptist Church and belonged to that rugged type of southern womanhood that has made the South famous. Funeral services were conducted at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home Saturday morning with Rev. Fred L. Flurry conducting the services. Rev. Alwin Stokes assisted in the services. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Pineville. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. F. D. Tarver of Winnfield; one son, James E. James of Jal, N. M.; three brothers, William Bell, Samuel H. Bell, and Isadore Bell; one granddaughter, Mrs. H. T. Harlan of Panama City, Florida, and two great grandchildren.
