Rev. C. M. Robinson was called to Bigelow, Ark., near Hot Springs, Monday, April 12, to conduct the funeral of Mrs. John Phillips' son, Clarence Dale Mayo, World War Two Veteran, who took his own life sometime between March 23, and April 10. Leaving his home on March 23, with a shotgun, the young man did not return. A search by the family and neighbors was made, but no trace of Mayo could be found. On April 10, a boy hunting cows in the mountains discovered the body of Mayo, which had almost perished, about two miles from the Phillips home. A verdict of suicide was returned by the coroner's jury. The youth, who had spent much time in Winnfield and Winn Parish with his mother, Mrs. John Phillips, and Mr. Phillips, a real estate and oil lease operator, is survived by his mother and stepfather, two brothers, and one sister, Oma Lee Mayo, Hot Springs; J. W. Mayo, Bigelow, Ark.; Earl Mayo, Jr., Japan.
