Mrs. F. E. Mayes, Native of Sikes, Dies in Columbia

Mrs. Frances Elkins Mayes, a native of Sikes, passed away at her home in
Columbia December 23, 1954.  She was 92 years old and had been in ill health
for several months.

Funeral services were conducted at the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson
Friday, December 24, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Dayton Doughtry and Dr. Wren Causey
officiating.

Surviving are her husband, W. L. Mayes of Columbia; five sons, L. A. Sr., of
Columbia; Henry and Horace of Monroe; Curt of Sikes; and Houston of Grayson.

Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased.  L. A. Jr., Quinton, and Buddy
Mayes, Harold and Johnnie Miller, and Eugene Buchanan.
