Mayes Buried at Sikes Tuesday, Nov. 11 Mrs. Vander Mayes, 66, who died Monday at the home of her son, S. A. Mayes, Delhi, La., was buried Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Sikes. Funeral services were held at the Sikes Baptist Church with W. S. Emmons of Sikes, Judge Cas Moss and Rev. H. J. Mott of Winnfield conducting the last rites. Mrs. Mayes was the former Lizzie Newsome, daughter of the late Samuel R. Newsome. She was born January 13, 1881 in Winn Parish. Surviving are her husband, Vander Mayes of Delhi, La.; two sons, S. A. Mayes of Delhi and Michel Mayes of Bossier City, La.; three daughters, Mrs. Maudie Mae Fisher of West Monroe, Mrs. Ethel Brown of Alexandria, La., and Mrs. Vonna Dunn of Delhi; six brothers, C. M. Newsome of Sikes, Roy Newsome of Bossier City, Hugh Newsome of Seattle, Washington, Walter W. Newsome of Decatur, Miss., Sam R. Newsome, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, and Troy Newsome of Lake Charles, La. Relatives and friends who attended the funeral from Winnfield were Mrs. John Mosley, Mrs. Bertha Kidd, Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Fox, W. H. Peters, Judge Cas Moss, and Rev. H. J. Mott.
