Last Rites Held For George M. McCarty of Sikes Jan. 22

Funeral services for George M. McCarty, 53, who died at his home at Sikes
January 20, 1944, were held at the Sharon Baptist Church January 22, with the
Rev. L. C. Crain and the Rev. King officiating.  Burial was in the Sharon
Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Lamar McCarty, Wesley Maddos, Dock Elliott, Sam Willis,
Johnnie Shows, and Connie Underwood.

Born in Winn Parish in 1891, Mr. McCarty was a lifelong resident of the Sikes
Community.  He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Walter Kidd, Rayville and Miss
Sybl McCarty; three sons, D. J., Douglas, and Charles, all of Sikes; one
brother, Wylie McCarty, Winnsboro; two sisters, Mrs. L. Underwood, Sikes, and
Mrs. Sam Willis, Shreveport.
