G. McCarty, Sr., 69, of Winnfield, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in East Winnfield Baptist Church with the Revs. G. R. Nolan and J. L. Holt officiating. Burial was in Hurricane Grove Cemetery at Sikes under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mrs. McCarty died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 1976 in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. A native of Sikes, Mrs. McCarty was a member of East Winnfield Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Alton McCarty of Baton Rouge and A. G. McCarty, Jr. of Winnfield; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Trammell of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Wardell Skains of Winnfield, and Mrs. Velda Johnson of Dodson; four brothers, Clarence Thompson and Ernest Thompson, both of Sikes, Harlan Thompson of Winnfield and Norman Thompson of Haughton; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Crawley and Mrs. Ottice Forest, both of Sikes, and Mrs. Virgie Mathews of Hodge; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Cecil Taylor, Mike Cockerham, Howard Cockerham, Wallace Ingles, Glynn Smiley, Loran McFarland.
