Final Rites For C. A. McCarty To Be Held Friday

Funeral services for Cicero A. McCarty, 82, who passed away at his home at
Joyce at 1 a.m. Thursday, will be held Friday, July 18, at 3 p.m. at the
Hurricane Grove Baptist Church near Sikes.  Officiating will be Rev. B. D.
Dyess and Rev. Edward Smith.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A retired farmer, Mr. McCarty was born and reared in the Sikes community.  He
was a descendant of a pioneer family of Winn Parish, and was a member of the
Hurricane Grove Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World.  For the past
four years he had resided at Joyce.

The deceased leaves his wife, Mrs. Emma Tatum McCarty of Joyce; three sons,
Harvey and Horace of Shreveport and Alvin of Rayville; two daughters, Mrs. O.
N. Simmons and Mrs. Coy Lawrence of the Hudson community; one brother, C.
C. McCarty of Winnsboro; one sister, Mrs. Rose Buchans of Crowville; 16
grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
