"Jamey" McCarty, 32 year old Winn Parish native who died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 16, 1966, of a heart attack shortly after arriving at a New Orleans hospital, were held at 2 p.m. Friday in East Winnfield Baptist Church. The Rev. W. A. Wimbs, pastor of the church, and Rev. Hamilton of New Orleans, officiated. Burial was in Hurricane Grove Cemetery. He was born and reared in Winn Parish and had resided in New Orleans for he past 10 years. He was employed by the military department of the State of Louisiana and was a member of the Napoleonville Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving include his wife; two daughters, Tibetha and Melissa McCarty, all of New Orleans; his mother, Mrs. A. G. McCarty, Sr., of Winnfield; two brothers, Alton McCarty of Baton Rouge and A. G. McCarty, Jr., of Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Vivian Trammell of Lake Providence, Mrs. Richard Skains of Joyce, and Mrs. J. W. Johnson of Winnfield.
