B. McCook and Mrs. Rubie Moss Hanks, who dies at the Presbyterian hospital in Albuquerque, NM, Christmas day, were held at the Winnfield First Baptist Church Thursday at 2 p.m., with the pastor, Rev. H. H. McBride officiating. Interment was in the Winnfield cemetery. At the beginning of her illness, Miss McCook was employed in the office of Louisiana State University, resigning her position to go west. She received her M.A. degree from Louisiana State University some four years ago. Her mother, before her marriage to the late J. V. McCook of Robeline, was Miss Rubie Moss, of Winnfield. While her daughter was attending L.S.U., Mrs. Hanks also enrolled as a graduate student, later receiving her M.A. degree. She was employed as librarian at the university until early this year when she went to New Mexico to be with her daughter. In addition to a wide circle of friends, the deceased has many relatives over the state of Louisiana. Among her close surviving relatives are an aunt, Mrs. Carl English of Robeline; four uncles, Judge Cas Moss, presiding officer of the Eighth Judicial District; Alan A. Moss, and Joe Moss, all of Winnfield, and Herbert N. Moss, of Rochelle, salesman for Tremont and Gulf Lumber Co. (Submitted by Karen Reaves Moss, 948 Vintage Drive, Kenner, LA 70065, RosyRoja@aol.com)
