James T. "Ted" McCarty, who was killed in action in Italy on May 23, 1944, were enroute to the States for reburial. Announcement will be made later as to funeral arrangements. A military service will be conducted and interment will be made in the Beech Creek Cemetery. Before entering service, McCarty, a 1938 graduate of the Winnfield High School, was a student at the local trade school. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Wiston, of Flat Creek, and Sherman McCarty, and two sisters, Mrs. B. F. Allbritton of Tullos and Mrs. Curtis Mayes. No. 2 Reburial For Sgt. James T. McCarty Sunday, Jan. 2 The remains of Sgt. James T. "Ted" McCarty arrived in Winnfield Tuesday and will lay in state at the Southern Funeral Home until Friday at which time they will be carried to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard McCarty of Beech Creek. Military services will be held at the Beech Creek Church Sunday, January 2, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. R. M. Doughty of Tullos officiating. Burial will be in the Beech Creek Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers will be Curtis and Delmer Smith, J. B. and E. M. Allbritton, Jr., Ray and O'Neal Hatten, Cody Hand, Cecil Meredith, J. Tom Mayes, and Richard Boyd. Sgt. McCarty, who was 26 years old when he was killed in action in Italy, May 23, 1944, had entered service January 26, 1942. He was a graduate of the Winnfield High School and of the local trade school and had been a member of the Beech Creek Baptist Church since early youth. Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. B. F. Allbritton and Wiston McCarty of Tullos, Star Route, Mrs. Lucy Mayes of Sulphur, La., and Sherman McCarty of Roanoke, La.
