W. A. McCarty, Winn Native, Succumbs At 82

William Arthur McCarty, 82, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 1970 at an
Alexandria hospital.  He was a native of Winn Parish and a resident of Tioga.
He was a retired carpenter, a member of Paul Howell Post No. 3630, VFW,
American Legion Post No. 50, and First Baptist Church of Tioga.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carrie Scroggs McCarty of Tioga; two sons,
William A. McCarty, Jr. and George W. McCarty, both of Tioga; two daughters,
Mrs. S. P. Parrish, Jr., of Madill, Okla., Mary Lavina McCarty, of Houston,
Tex.; three brothers, Rush McCarty of Tioga, A. L. McCarty of Alexandria, H.
V. McCarty of Pineville; two sisters, Mrs. Lettie Cornell of Jackson, Miss.,
Mrs. A. L. Bandy of Houston; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Hixson Bros.
Funeral Home, Pineville.  Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  Masonic
graveside services were conducted by Curtis Hines Lodge No. 317.
