G. McCarty Sunday, Oct. 16 Andrew Guy McCarty, 62, of East Winnfield, died in a Winnfield hospital October 15, 1960, following a week's illness. Funeral services were conducted at the East Winnfield Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, with Rev. Kenneth Wall, Rev. D. W. McDaniel, and Rev. Hardy Beaubouef, officiating. Burial was in the Hurricane Grove Baptist Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were members of his Sunday School class from the East Winnfield Baptist Church. Mr. McCarty was born at Sikes, Feb. 12, 1898. He was a charter member of the East Winnfield Baptist Church and was an employee of the State Highway Department. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Olie Thompson McCarty; three sons, Alton of Baton Rouge, James A. of New Orleans, and A. G. Jr., of Winnfield; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Trammell of Lake Providence, Mrs. Velda Johnson of Lawton, Okla., and Mrs. Wardell Skains of Winnfield; and 12 grandchildren. He also leaves six brothers, Clinton "Big Mac" and Cecil McCarty of Winnfield; Wayne of Monroe, Floyd of Ringgold, Milo of Pineville, and Elzie of Columbia; and four sisters, Mrs. Vina Sanders, Mrs. Maurine Sanders, Mrs. Viola Sanders, all of the Sikes community and Mrs. Vocie Sanders of Pollock.
