McDade, World War Veteran, Buried Here Monday Funeral services for Hector C. McDade, who died in the U. S. V. Hospital, Legion, Texas, Friday morning, January 8th, were held at the Winnfield City Cemetery Monday morning, January 11th, following the arrival of the remains over the Rock Island railway. The Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, assisted by the Rev. A. H. Cullen, had charge of the services. Members of the Everett S. Fick Post No. 9 American Legion met the train and accompanied the remains to the Winnfield Cemetery where interment was made. The deceased was a World War veteran. His health became impaired during his services in the war and he was receiving treatment at the Veterans' hospital at the time of his death. The casket was draped with the United States flag. Pallbearers were members of the local post American Legion as follows: B. H. Williams, A. M. Hyde, A. S. Hahn, Clayton Taylor, L. H. Smith, Fount Wright, and D. E. Sikes. Surviving the deceased are his wife, who was too ill at her home in Texas to attend the funeral, his mother, Mrs. M. E. McDade and one sister, Mrs. S. J. Taylor, of Winnfield. Friends sympathize with the aged mother the loss of her son in such a short time from that of another son, H. D. McDade, who passed away at the Veterans' Hospital, Alexandria, last July.
