Cpl. A. E. McDavid Dies May 26th On Luzon In Pacific

Father, Walter McDavid, Receives Message On Wednesday

Cpl. Austin E. McDavid, son of Walter McDavid of the Pleasant Hill Community,
died in Luzon in the South Pacific on May 26, according to information from
the War Department received Wednesday of this week.

Cpl. McDavid had been in the South Pacific about two years, having been
transferred to that area about one year after entering the service.  He had
been stationed in New Guinea.

The last letter written by Cpl. McDavid was dated May 24 and at that time he
was well and doing fine.

Surviving are his father, Walter McDavid, one brother, Charlie McDavid,
Camden, Ark., and two sisters, Mrs. Clementine Meredith and Miss Eva McDavid
of Urania.
