McElroy, Atlanta Citizen, Dies In Hospital Father of Mrs. John McCloy; Funeral Services Held Wednesday John H. McElroy, age 72, of Atlanta, died in a Shreveport hospital Tuesday of this week following an illness of about a month. Mr. McElroy had suffered failing health for several months but his condition did not become acute until about two weeks ago. He was born at Ringold, Bienville Parish, September 29, 1867, and was one of twelve children. After reaching early manhood he engaged in the mercantile business, which he abandoned to move to Atlanta to begin farming on land he homesteaded at that time. Here he remained the balance of his life contributing in talent, time and effort toward the upbuilding of the Atlanta Community. Funeral services were held at the Atlanta church, to where the body was taken drom the home of his daughter, Mrs. John McCloy in Winnfield, conducted by the Rev. B. C. Land, assisted by Rev. G. A. Morgan and Rev. Alwin Stokes, other local pastors and Rev. J. W. Buckner of Jonesboro. Interment was in the Atlanta Cemetery. Mr. McElroy is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ida Webb McElroy, and eight children, Mrs. Ambrose Davis, Alco; Guy McElroy, Atlanta; Mrs. Stephen Juneau, Alexandria; mrs. Ben Reinking, Chicago; Mrs. Lunsford Bates, North Little Rock, Ark.; Dallas McElroy, Atlanta; Mrs. John McCloy, Winnfield; and Ardis McElroy, Jonesboro; five sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Bryant, Miss Josie McElroy, Mrs. Mollie Martin, Mrs. Daisy Corley, mrs. Fannie Corley, and one brother, Robert McElroy, all of Winnfield. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased and included Neil McElroy and Wiley Corley of Ringgold, D. A. Martin, Marshall, Texas, Gus Gresham, Atlanta, Webb Sutton, Alexandria, and Howard Parham, Winnfield. Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral rites were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Davis, Texarkana, Wilton Davis, Pensacola, Fla., Mrs. Daisy Corley, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McElroy, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Martin, Allen Denton, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Corley, Mrs. Henry Tooke, Mrs. Fannie corley, Neil McElroy, Arthur McElroy, Lloyd McElroy of Ringold, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Martin, Marshall, Texas. Mrs. Effie Perryman, Mrs. Pearl Sutton, Webb Sutton, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Landry, Mrs. J. W. Cline, Mrs. Emma Hathorn, Mrs. Elanor Luckett, Mrs. Nora Windham, Alexandria, Mrs. O. L. Gray, Mrs. Hazel Halsell, Mr. and Mrs. E. J.
