Charlotte Corrine McFarland

Funeral services for Charlotte Corrine McFarland will be held at 2:30
p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2000 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel
in Winnfield with Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial will be in the
Tison Cemetery, Winnfield, LA, under the direction of Southern Funeral
Home, Winnfield.

Mrs. McFarland, age 87 of Winnfield, LA died Monday, September 18 in
the Rapides Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Packton, LA
and a homemaker.

Survivors are two sons, Grady McFarland of Winnfield, LA and Wayne 
McFarland of Sweetwater, TX; two brothers, Woolford K. Melton of Rolling
Fork, MS and Phillip Clayton Melton of Salem, SD; three sisters, Nancy
M. Sledge of New Orleans, Fanny M. Coleman of Olla, LA and Bobby M.
Tullos of Winnfield, LA; and two grandchildren, Shane Lee and Stefan
Reid McFarland.

Maurice Barrett, Henry D. Jones, Jr, Shelby Carter Melton and Daniel F.
Panessiti.

Charlotte Corrine Melton ( 8/07/1913 - 9/18/2000 ) married Edmond L.
McFarland ( 7/05/1904 - 9/08/1987 ) on 12/24/1934. Preceded in death
by husband and daughter, Mary Genance ( 12/06/1936 - 3/03/1937 ), both
buried at Zion Hill Cemetery @ Tannehill.

Her parents were: Ben Elbert Melton ( 7/31/1889 - 11/16/1979 ) and
Voila Eudora Howell ( 12/20/1890 TN - 11/20/1973 ). Both @ Tyson Cem.

Paternal g/p were: Elbert Madison Melton ( 4/14/1856 GA - 9/05/1932 ) and
Louisiana Laurette Tyson ( 5/03/1856 - 8/23/1935 ). Elbert @ Melton Cem
and Laura @ Tyson Cem. Maternal g/p were: Robert Franklin Howell
( 11/18/1851 TN - 11/22/1927 ) and Sarilda Frances Hooper ( 8/20/1861 TN -
3/19/1945 ). Both @ Liberty Chapel Cem.

Paternal gg/p were: Madison McKinney Melton ( 11/08/1828 GA - 4/16/1895 )
and Susan Carolyn Swain ( 11/17/1830 GA - 8/25/1905 ). They emigrated to
the Packton area of Winn Parish in 1858. Both @ Melton Cem. James Edward
Tyson ( 3/25/1811 Ga - 3/19/1872 ) and Elizabeth Allbright ( 3/15/1820 -
8/18/1857 ). The Tysons and Allbrights emigrated to Grant (Rapides) Parish
in 1818. Both @ Tyson Cem.
