Loran McFarland

Winnfield - Services for Loran "Mac" McFarland will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday
in the chapel of Southern, Winnfield, with the Revs. Deloy Shows and
Wallace
Ingles officiating. A military gravesite service will follow in the Zion
Hill
Cemetery, Tannehill.

McFarland, 70, of Joyce died Sunday, Feb. 24,2002 in Rapides Regional
Medical Center,
Alexandria.

He was a Winnfield native and a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He
was also 
retired from retail automotive parts sales. He was a member of the Zion
Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosa McFarland; five
brothers and 
two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Emma McFarland of Joyce; four daughters,
Rosanne Purser of
Winnsboro, Laurene McFarland of Pineville, Lisa Kinney of Bossier City and
Barbie Cannon of
Shreveport; stepmother, Ester McFarland Grice of Winnfield; five brothers,
Bobby McFarland of
Longview, Wash., Lester Wheeler of Ft. Worth, Texas, Charles McFarland and
Buddy McFarland, 
both of Winnfield and Pete McFarland of Bentley; four sisters, Cleo
Cavanaugh of Tallulah, 
Nancy Gordon of Shreveport, Myra Johnson of Chatham and Thelma Alderson of
Bossier City; and 
13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Shuler, Loran Shuler, John Rouse, Christopher
Bordelon, Jack McFarland
and Lee Gorham.

Friends may call from 4:30-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of
services Wednesday in the 
funeral home.

Honor Guard.

Loran McFarland ( 10/24/1931- 2/24/2002 ) married Emma McElenney in New
York City on 9/02/1951.
His parents, William Loran McFarland 12/31/1896 - 1/11/1968 and Rosie
Coonce 1899 - 1934  
mar. 4/21/1917 are buried at Zion Hill. Paternal grandparents, George
Thomas McFarland 4/21/1840 
- 6/25/1909 Co I 3 La Inf CSA  and Nancy Catherine Warner 1/12/1869 -
4/14/1945 are buried at
