McGinty, Sr., Thursday, 2 P.M. Former Clerk of Court Succumbs Tuesday Afternoon Last rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the late residence in Winnfield for Cyrus McGinty, Sr., 85, a native of this parish and for nearly 25 years active in the office of the clerk of court for Winn. Mr. McGinty succumbed at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at his residence following a short illness. Survivors, besides his widow, the former Kate Jennings, who he married in 1885, are one son, Cyrus, Jr., Lake Charles, La.; and four daughters, Mrs. A. C. Campbell, Mrs. R. C. Murphy, and Mrs. N. C. Woody, all of Shreveport, and Mrs. T. H. Fortner of Dallas, Texas. Mr. McGinty was born October 16, 1860 in the Gansville community, then known as Lewisville. As a young man he was a school teacher and about 1902 became cashier of one of the first banks to be established in Winnfield. He remained in the banking business until his election as clerk of court in 1920, which office he held until 1928 after which he became associated with C. F. Walsworth, present clerk of court, as deputy. Because of his long career in public life, Mr. McGinty was one of the best known citizens of the community. At the time of his death he was a director of the Bank of Winnfield. Services will be conducted from the residence with Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church and Rev. H. B. Hysell, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. The deceased was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and a Mason, the local lodge of which will conduct rites at the graveside. Hixson Brothers of Winnfield is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers will be B. L. Anderson, James E. Carter, J. R. Heard, Albert Nugent, Charles Walsworth, and Mack L. Branch.
